A fugitive, who fought to reinstate the law of the land.
Raghu Dakat is a cinematic experience crafted for big screen. Taking the extraordinary success of ‘Golondaaj’ forward, SVF, Dhrubo Banerjee and Dev come back as a team to create “Raghu Dakat”, positioned to be one of the biggest Bengali films ever in terms of magnanimity and scale, bringing the elements of fantasy and folklore on-screen to depict an integral part of the history, culture, and heritage of Bengal. Based on the era of the 18th century, the story anchors one of the darkest phases of Indian history which remains vastly unexplored. It is an astounding tale of a time of extreme turmoil that demanded a Saviour.
Dev will be moulding himself to emerge as the legendary Raghu Dakat, a role that holds the promise to become of his finest ever on screen. This will be his second collaboration with the stellar director Dhrubo Banerjee who has delivered three back-to-back blockbusters, the sensational treasure hunt adventure series “Guptodhoner Sandhane” and “Durgeshgorer Guptodhon”, and the recent sports period film “Golondaaj” which stormed the Box Office, bringing audience back in theatres after the prolonged pandemic.Raghu Dakat marks Dhrubo Banerjee’s third exploration in the quest of unearthing hidden treasures of Bengal’s culture, heritage & history.‘Raghu Dakat’ is an extension that connects with the core motives of Dhrubo Banerjee’s filmmaking journey of bringing back the pride of Bangaliyana, through his own unique way of storytelling. This fantasy folklore as a story is written by Dhrubo Banerjee himself, targeting the audience across all age groups and social strata.
Talking about his intent of taking Bengali cinema to a whole new level, Dhrubo Banerjee said “This is pretty much what I am trying to achieve in Bengali films - expanding the market at its optimum level, bringing alive the big screen magic with larger-than-life unique original stories of Bengal backed by modern day technologies which will offer national scalability. Only then we will be able to create a larger audience base. We may be short on resources, but the zeal to position and align our content at a national level alongside the biggies is worth a try with the treasure of stories and immense talent base that Bengal offers.”
Raghu Dakat has every cinematic ingredient to bring back audiences in the theatres of every age group, across multiplexes and single screens of urban and rural alike. It is a film that will generate nostalgia for the elders and an adrenaline rush for the younger generation. ‘Raghu Dakat’ promise to create an icon in Bengali cinema that every Bengali speaking audience across the world will be able to connect. ‘Raghu Dakat’ will go on floors mid next year.
